Attorneys - help victims of child abuse
with JUSTICE FOR CHILDRENLegal services are a frequent need for clients that contact Justice for Children. Keeping their child safe from an abuser may require protective orders, divorce from an abuser, the need to establish or modify child custody and, many times, child support. Many of the victimized children we work with are the product of unmarried parents creating a need for the establishment of paternity. These clients lack the monetary resources to hire attorneys. The abuse of their child and lack of immediate resources to access services desperately places them in a crisis mode and highly emotional making the process even more daunting to them.

Make education accessible. Become a Hindi translator!
with OPPIA FOUNDATION INCIf you’re fluent in spoken and written Hindi and passionate about eradicating education inequality, keep reading! Oppia is looking for a translator to assist our team with translating our online story-based lessons from English to Hindi . To get started, please fill in this form: https://forms.gle/HTCWBRixXo9gJj2o7 Who We Are The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our free-to-use platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve. Where You Fit In Millions of children are not receiving the education they deserve. Of the 61 million children worldwide who cannot attend primary school, 17 million will never step foot into a school if trends continue. Students around the world face difficulties accessing quality education due to conflict, discrimination, and lack of teacher training - and, in the wake of COVID-19, millions more children are also seeing interruptions in their daily lives, stability, and education, which makes it even more difficult for them to get the education they need to succeed. Our community of volunteers has created a series of novel and engaging story-based mathematics lessons that have proved highly engaging and effective with English-speaking students, including in a randomized controlled trial. We now want to expand the reach of these lessons by translating them into Hindi , in order to make them as accessible as possible to learners who have Hindi as a native language. Oppia is looking for passionate individuals to join our Email Newsletter team to help create and publish our regular newsletter. We're looking for someone who sees beyond the screen, understanding that each click represents an opportunity to ignite curiosity and drive positive change. To get started, please fill in this form: https://forms.gle/3pnmkoP6okWrAJQX9 Who We Are The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. In the wake of COVID-19, millions more children are also seeing interruptions in their daily lives, stability, and education - making it even more difficult than before for many students to get the education they need to succeed. The learners we serve are typically from low-income families which cannot afford to pay for education; in some cases, the parents may not even have had the opportunity to attend school. Thus, to maintain and improve the services that we offer them, it is important to source donations that allow us to cover their costs. Our opt-in email newsletter gives our supporters a way to follow along with our work and receive updates on the impact of their donations. We are currently seeking strong email marketing copywriters who can help produce and edit content for our email newsletter. This will enable us to provide updates to our supporters and raise awareness of the work we’re doing, as well as bring in donations that would help ensure the financial sustainability of the organization and enable Oppia to continue providing free education for underserved learners around the world. You should be someone who is familiar with blogging/article writing, email newsletter strategy, passionate about the problems that Oppia is solving, and excited about community engagement! While we’d prefer someone who has some experience in these areas, we're happy to work with someone who'd like to learn and develop through this role as well. Why Oppia is an Organization You Want to Work With Oppia has served over 2,000,000 users. Oppia focuses on effectiveness, and conducts rigorous user testing and RCTs to validate the lessons we offer. Stay updated on non-profit email marketing trends to enhance effectiveness. Attend regular status calls to ensure that the team is in sync, and to remove any roadblocks. A solid understanding of email marketing principles, including audience segmentation, A/B testing, and automation. Ability to manage contact lists and implement growth strategies. Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Passion for education and social impact, with a desire to leverage digital marketing for positive change. Instead, please follow the instructions on our GitHub wiki page: Web: https://github.com/oppia/oppia/wiki/Contributing-code-to-Oppia#setting-things-up This is important because we receive multiple applications per day through VolunteerMatch and don't have the capacity to reply to each one. In contrast, the wiki instructions above provide all the information needed for you to get started with the project in a fully self-service way :) Who Are We? The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve. Even before COVID-19, students around the world were facing difficulties accessing quality education due to conflict, discrimination, lack of teacher training, and more. However, with COVID-19 forcing everyone to stay quarantined in their own homes, students now more than ever need access to free, quality education to ensure that they can continue to learn even if they cannot attend school. Why Oppia is an Organization You Want to Work With Oppia has served over 2,000,000 users. Oppia focuses on effectiveness, and conducts rigorous user testing and RCTs to validate the lessons we offer. The team is very collaborative and has a culture of providing and receiving constructive feedback through code reviews. Some examples of projects we're working on include: Adding functionality in the "contributor dashboard" to ease the process of translating lessons Fixing small issues in the lesson player that confuse students who haven't used a phone before Finding ways to make the site faster and more performant on low-end devices Don't worry if you're new to "open source", or if you're still a student -- many of our contributors are, too, and we'd be more than happy to provide mentorship and support if this is your first time contributing to an open source project! The main thing is that you care deeply about helping people around the world to learn things better, and that you're responsible and reliable. If you'd like to help out, please follow the instructions on our GitHub wiki page to get started: Web: https://github.com/oppia/oppia/wiki/Contributing-code-to-Oppia#setting-things-up We look forward to meeting you!

Do you have a passion for prayer? Join our Volunteer Prayer Team.
Women Living Well Ministries (WLWM) believes in the power of prayer. It is through prayer that we begin seeing our Lord’s mighty hand at work. Not only did Jesus come to teach mankind the word of truth, He, too, modeled to us how prayer is a vital component in seeking the counsel of our Father God and to living a Christian life. As Jesus stated to His disciples in prayer, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another." (John 15:16-17) We are looking for individuals who feel called to support our prayer leadership team by assisting us in praying for women who have petitioned for prayer on Women Living Well Ministries’ website along with covering prayers for the ministry, we ask you to join the WLWM Prayer Leadership Team. We ask you to please commit to pray one day a week for at least five to ten minutes. We, too, ask that you prayerfully consider joining the WLWM Prayer Partner Team before signing up. If you choose to partner with us, we will forward you a prayer calendar each month via email. Coral Reef flood prevention simulation, Scenario Planning & serious gaming Volunteer, CrowdDoing
Coral Reef & Flood Simulation Project Coral Reef flood prevention simulation, Scenario Planning & serious gaming Volunteer, CrowdDoing Overview The USGS’s latest study notes that coral reef barriers provide flood protection for more than 18,000 people and $1.8 billion worth of coastal infrastructure and economic activity annually in the United States. However, this benefit is rarely acknowledged by the general public and key stakeholders in related fields. CrowdDoing sees this gap and proposes a serious game project to raise the public awareness of the environmental benefits of coral reefs, educate stakeholders, and encourage additional actions to reduce environmental pollution that puts coral reefs at risk. The main objective of this project is to develop a pledging platform for stakeholders including experts, government officials, and students who desire to bring social innovations to the problem and support. By introducing an interactive gamified platform to explain how coral reefs contribute to flooding prevention, stakeholders will gain knowledge and learn facts about the problem, find partners with similar interests, and create impact. This is done by identifying synergies, sharing knowledge and promoting and improving cooperation among researchers, social innovators, and communities interested in addressing the challenge. CrowdDoing is building a team of volunteers for the production of this project. The involvement of volunteers contributes to the project in different ways. It provides opportunities for volunteers to demonstrate mastery, upskilling, building connection between volunteers, health & wellbeing benefits as well as social impact itself. It can also be a frame for non-experts to take responsibility for advancing fields that traditionally are exclusively the domain of experts. For example, citizen science is democratizing the role of scientists so that anyone can take responsibility for advancing scientific knowledge and progress. Analogously, "citizens" be engaged in other fields that have formerly been exclusively left to experts. CrowdDoing welcomes anyone with an interest in the vision to join the team and build the global platform for social innovations. Why serious games? Serious games combine entertainment with education and civic engagement. Serious gaming is a widely used technique to educate people with diverse backgrounds and has proven effective in a range of contexts. Games are also one of the most popular entertainment products and are well received by the public, especially the young. With the help of various game distribution platforms, digital games can easily reach out to a large number of audiences and achieve impact goals that would otherwise not be feasible. Games can also become entry points for deeper participation. Serious games, such as "Fold It," for example, have been successful at supporting advances in research into cancer therapies. How are we going to achieve the goals in our serious game for coral reefs? There are three stages for this project: A Single player game - multiple role simulation of a specific area with real-world data. A Multi-player game - multiple role simulation of selected areas with real-world data. A Massively Multi-player Online gamified platform - simulation of multiple roles with real-world data, supporting various strategies of relevant social innovation. We started with a single-player game project to lay the foundation for both technologies and product design. The primary goal is to design a game with multiple roles/stakeholders participating and simulating the results with real-world data. In the next stage, we will support multiplayer functionality to emphasize collaboration among stakeholders through the real-time multiplayer gaming experience. The ultimate goal of this project is to create a multiplayer online platform that simulates global ecosystems and supports the participation of different stakeholders in real-time. It will evolve into a platform that, in addition to serving educational purposes, also fosters research on simulations of how the human activity would affect the local and global environment and actions that stakeholders can take to achieve positive environmental goals. We are looking for a Healthcare Data Analyst to gather and analyze healthcare data from multiple sources (e.g. insurance processing, clinical operations, patient behavior) to extract trends and business insights. To succeed in this role, you should be analytical and resourceful. You should also be an excellent communicator who’s able to tell the story behind raw data to non-technical audiences. If you also have experience in the healthcare industry, we’d like to meet you. Coral Reef flood prevention simulation, Scenario Planning & serious gaming Volunteer, CrowdDoing Understand health care operations and systems Create and validate record-keeping processes Pull and integrate data from disparate sources Evaluate and preprocess raw information Delve into data to discover discrepancies and patterns Build models that capture a wide range of health care operations Present and explain information in an accessible way Suggest ways to both increase healthcare quality through pilots and ensure costs benefits feasibility Collaborate with management and internal teams to implement and evaluate improvements Coral Reef flood prevention simulation, Scenario Planning & serious gaming Volunteer, CrowdDoing Proven experience as a Healthcare Data Analysis Experience in data analysis and visualization methods Understanding of healthcare procedures Knowledge of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) frameworks Proficient in SQL and analysis tools (e.g. SAS) Excellent analytical and communication skills Outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude BSc/BA in Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field "To help support you joining the right part of CrowdDoing for you, please use this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSftd6E0tyV2uq7mMty1rZ80BB2MSGhbnof9gRBvaQXbrttIkg/viewform?usp=sf_link" The only way CrowdDoing.world can realize its impact potential is through virtual volunteers, service learners(http://blog.reframeit.com/service-learning-and-skilled-volunteering/), and micro-leaders (https://real-leaders.com/leveraging-micro-leadership-to-make-aspirational-goals-achievable/) coming together. Help Soldiers in Harm's Way from your home through virtual volunteering
with Packages 4 PatriotsA Plea for Letters of Gratitude for Soldier’s in Harm’s way Make a difference from the comfort of your own home. Packages4Patriots strives to include personal letters in every care package that we send. These letters and drawings ensure that a Soldier, Sailor, Marine or Airman knows that you are thinking of them. It will only take 5 minutes out of your day to write a letter, but it will bring joy to our troops that will last a lifetime. Sadly, most months we do not have enough letters and drawings for every care package. Here is some help to get started: CHILDREN AND ADULTS Letters: I write about everything. I include sketches and photos and poems and stories, quotes from what is going on around me and maybe some lyrics from a song. A puzzle, a quiz, a riddle. Kid’s Art: Don’t ask them to draw anything specific. Just collect them; A common favorite drawing is stick figures of your family and pets in front of your house. WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT Keep your message upbeat and positive Be thankful ~~ share a little bit of yourself Ask questions; however, do not discuss death or killing Avoid politics completely and religion in excess It’s all about appreciation and respect Ask yourself: "Will this letter bring a smile to someone’s face?" HOW TO GET YOUR LETTERS AND DRAWINGS TO US Please note: Deliveries are by appointment only. To schedule a delivery, please call 847-791-3157. You can also mail to Packages 4 Patriots at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 150 Lions Drive, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007 NEVER FORGET! Donations for postage is the lifeblood of this mission. Volunteer Workforce Development Mentor
St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County helps our most vulnerable neighbors by providing safety-net resources including food, shelter, medical & dental care and employment & training. The SVdP Workforce Development Program is a 24 week, on-the-job training program for individuals who have experienced barriers to employment (incarceration, disability, addiction, etc.) and are looking to reenter the workforce. Classes are provided weekly to help participants improve on life skills and professional development skills. The primary role for a mentor is to provide support and to offer a positive role model to the program's selected trainees. A mentor is a resource to bounce ideas off, use as a sounding board, a person rooting for them and someone they can call for advice and assistance in job search. Activities can be in-person or virtual. The participants in our Workforce program need an additional support team as they may lack the family, community and educational backgrounds that provide a solid foundation.
